PURPOSE / SUMMARY
This position will oversee all activities on the production floor during third shift, serving as the technical authority, as well as providing leadership and guidance to the third shift staff.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise third shift personnel. This may include salaried as well as hourly union personnel.
- Assess and optimize process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities; innovate and implement process improvements on multiple and moderately complex processes
- Ensure KPI goals are met for the department; to include but not limited to safety, productivity, scrap, backorder, and WIP.
- Applied experience of LEAN and Six Sigma tools and methods
- Support operator training for new and existing processes, products, and equipment
- Report and identify manufacturing issues and execute solutions using tools such as CIMCO and SPC.
- Support new product manufacturability and launch into production
- Conduct time studies to verify or establish process specifications
- Execute cost improvement activities
- Write and execute process and equipment validations (IQ, OQ, PQ)
- Maintain accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in process, test results, measurements, labor and special projects.
- Assist Engineers in design and fabrication of tools and fixtures.
- Perform other related tasks as requested or assigned.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise third shift personnel. This may include salaried as well as hourly union personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Two-year technical certificate or degree in machining plus 5 years machining experience OR 10+ years of related machining experience.
Experience:
- Previous supervisor or leading teams experience preferred. Experience in a unionized labor environment.
Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively and lead production teams
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Experience completing complex machine setups a plus.
- Well-developed mathematical and problem solving skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Knowledge and the ability to operate the following tools and devices: mill, lathe, sanders, grinders, drills, micrometers, callipers, indicators, gauges, presses a plus.
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
- SolidWorks and CNC experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequently Lift/Carry 25 lbs.
- Vision requirements correctable to 20/20 vision.
- Infrequent heavy lifting.
