Description
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, and compensation/benefits. This internship provides hands-on experience in supporting HR operations such as assisting with onboarding, maintaining employee records, conducting research for HR initiatives, and participating in the planning and execution of employee engagement activities. The intern will also have opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams, gain exposure to compliance and policy development, and contribute to fostering a positive workplace culture.
This is an in-person internship. You will be required to work at our Buffalo, NY office.
Essential Job Functions
Assist with various projects, including policy review, compliance audits, and salary compensation analysis.
Support employee relations initiatives by observing and learning how conflicts are addressed, grievances are managed, and employee morale is monitored and maintained.
Sort and distribute mail, including incoming checks, ensuring delivery to the correct department.
Maintain and update bulletin boards by removing outdated announcements and displaying current employee communications.
Support the recruitment process by scheduling interviews for manufacturing roles, coordinating pre-employment testing, and preparing materials for new hire orientations.
Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality in all HR-related tasks.
Accurately and promptly maintain employee files, including regular filing and updates to ensure compliance and organization.
Perform administrative duties for the HR team, including organizing documents, scheduling meetings, and drafting correspondence.
Participate in planning and executing employee engagement activities and events to foster a positive workplace culture.
Assist in tracking employee leaves, including disability, FMLA, PFL, and workers’ compensation.
Conduct research to support HR initiatives, including benchmarking best practices and preparing presentations or reports as needed.
Provide support to other HR functions such as performance management, benefits administration, and compliance projects as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the HR department.
Requirements
• Pursing a degree in Business, Human Resources or related field.
• Must be in good academic standing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Comfortable with MS Office (Word, Excel, PP)
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability and willingness to interact with all people in a sensitive, responsive manner.
• Excellent verbal, and written communication skills; Active listening skills.
Other Information
This position is exposed to quiet office noise level except when required to go into the production areas where there is exposure to loud machine noise.
