Job Summary
The role of Sr. Global Trade Compliance Specialist Is to provide guidance and direction to the organization with respect to policies, procedures and legal rulings that affect the global Supply Chain including, but not limited to, customs rules and regulations, legal rulings, tariffs, and free trade regulations across the company. Perform the activities related to the daily Logistics transportation operation - daily requirements, documentation, processing, monitoring, for warehousing and shipping.  This will include the following areas, in addition to other duties as assigned or deemed necessary: all domestic and Canadian warehousing and shipping activity; international shipping activity as required; external warehouse activity, return goods management, inbound and outbound related process activity, daily interaction within the department and other company areas. The Sr. Global Trade Compliance Specialist will report to the Logistics Manager.

Essential Job Functions
1. Implement and manage the export/import and customs compliance control policies, procedures and resources through training programs, formal and informal communication and process improvements.
2. Lead an Import and Compliance Team at Graphic Controls that should include representation from Logistics, Global Sourcing, Purchasing, Legal and the Finance Departments
3. Research, monitor, update and assist in interpretation and upkeep of pertinent customs data, including product markings, harmonized tariff codes and descriptions, country of origin, USMCA agreements and certificates of origin and resolution of any import/export compliance issues as they arise or as needed.
4. Work with Logistics team to advise Global Sourcing of key issues and new and potential problems, including notices, penalties and other inquiries that arise from the local Customs authorities. Support resolution as required.
5. Respond to all U.S., local and regional government inquiries, requests and requirements related to import and export compliance, with support from corporate Legal team, and the Logistics Manager.
6. Serve as the Nissha Medical Technologies import and export knowledge resource. Assess the impact of regulatory changes and drive/implement the changes as appropriate; review marketing plans, global supply chain initiatives and International contracts to minimize compliance risk and duty exposure.
7. Liaison with the necessary customs brokerage firms in ensuring expeditious, economical processing and clearance of all international shipments, including Canada.
8. Liaison with regulatory agencies, domestic and international trade organizations, relative to our Logistics needs and activities.
9. Liaison with National Traffic Services for all related billing requirements.
10. Process the Canadian Cross-border (customer) shipments.  This includes all related processing, customs invoicing, PARS, PAPS and documentation.
11. Determine shipping methods for domestic and international shipments, prepare shipping papers, bill of ladings, waybills, barcode labels, and any other shipment processing related documentation.  
12. Secure rate quotations, track shipments, acquire proof of deliveries and claims processing, as needed.  Also maintain current references (web applications) for these logistics departmental needs.
13. Monitor any of GC’s 3rd party logistics activity from a shipment processing and inventory control aspect to ensure proper systems processing of all related matter.
14. Liaison with the local, national and international carrier representatives, in keeping current with all necessary transportation information relevant to our needs.
15. Assist in the scheduling for incoming and outbound shipment appointment, if necessary.
16. Assist in any necessary processing functions for finished goods and raw material activity, if necessary.
17. Maintain adequate, orderly filing and storage of Logistics documentation and records, in accordance with our record retention specifications.
18. Assist in the processing of departmental metrics, publish weekly/monthly reports as required.
19. Process incoming mail, supply requisitioning, and payment approvals.
20. Target industry best practices and common approaches in all areas of your responsibilities.
21. Provide backup coverage for Logistics Transportation Coordinator 2, and Director, due to absence (ie vacation et. al) 
22. Maintain and improve your KSA’s through self-directed research, review, relative seminars, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
23. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • BS/BA degree, Transportation related field a plus. 
    • or equivalent experience in Logistics, both domestic and international a must.
  • Minimum 8 years experience “hands on” in direct transportation applications, with emphasis on international compliance and shipping. 
  • Experience in managing customs compliance programs
  • Up to date knowledge of international trade regulations in areas noted in the job functions (customs regs, procedures and best practices, tariffs, duty preferences, E/I controls, FTA’s, etc.)
  • Membership in domestic and/or international trade organization a plus
  • CCS Certification a plus
  • Administrative management experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Highly proficient with MS office (Word, Excel, Access, others)
  • Excellent math and communication skills required.
  • Highly knowledgeable of traffic processing with Domestic and International document systems, web based related technology as well.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing multi-task environment
