Job Duties
- Supervise production personnel. This includes hourly union personnel.
- Assess and optimize process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities; innovate and implement process improvements on multiple and moderately complex processes
- Ensure KPI goals are met for the department; to include but not limited to safety, productivity, scrap, backorder, and WIP.
- Applied experience of LEAN and Six Sigma tools and methods
- Support operator training for new and existing processes, products, and equipment
- Report and identify manufacturing issues and execute solutions using tools such as SPC.
- Support new product manufacturability and launch into production
- Conduct time studies to verify or establish process specifications
- Execute cost improvement activities
- Maintain accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in process, test results, measurements, labor and special projects.
- Work with Engineering on process improvements
- Perform other related tasks as requested or assigned.
- Supervise production personnel
Requirements
- Two-year technical certificate or degree in machining plus 5 years machining experience OR 8+ years of related supervisory experience.
- Previous supervisor or leading teams experience preferred.
- Preferred experience in a unionized labor environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and lead production teams
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Preferred experience completing complex machine setups.
- Well-developed mathematical and problem solving skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Knowledge and the ability to operate the following tools and devices: mill, lathe, sanders, grinders, drills, micrometers, callipers, indicators, gauges, presses a plus.
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
- CAD and CNC experience preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
