Description

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering PLC Technician to join our 1st shift team!

Summary
Supports manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance departments, in all aspects of electrical, and electronic power and control devices.  Troubleshoots and installs upgrades to existing equipment for the purpose of safety, productivity improvements, reliability, and ease of operation. Provides engineering services, process development, including methods and electrical equipment specifications.  Plans electrical/electronic equipment requirements and coordinates with other departments plus outside vendors.

Essential Job Functions
Assignments are broad in nature and require proven experience in Electrical/Electronic field.

  • Schedules assigned projects.
  • Requires little or no supervision on technical matters.
  • Plans, directs, and assumes responsibility for assigned projects with an emphasis on timeliness and cost.
  • Supports the development of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Maintenance Projects.
  • Designs, assembles, and programs electrical/electronic controls and systems.
  • Installs, debugs, maintains, and repairs electrical/electronic/PLC controlled printing/converting and pre-press equipment.
  • Operate equipment for measuring, electrical, mechanical, or physical properties.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment or building systems using various test equipment.
  • Supports the development of project proposals and cost justifications.
  • Participates in meetings as required.
  • Trains other department personnel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related technical (electrical) field or minimum of 3 years equivalent experience.
  • 2 years PLC experience
  • Experience in both research and development type electronic/electrical projects, as well as daily maintenance of Printing/Converting equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Project Engineering experience related to controls and automation in Graphic Arts equipment, printing presses, converting equipment, etc.
  • Design experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, counters and programmable controllers
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with outside vendors.
  • Current on latest computer hardware and software technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with others.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Excellent training skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time. 75-100%
  • Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Also includes finger dexterity. 50-75%
  • Bending: Stooping, crouching, full back and leg flexibility. 50-75%
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees. 50-75%
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. 50-75%
  • Lifting: Picking up and movement of objects. May involve carrying as well. 50-75%
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. 50-75%
  • Vision: Ability to see and recognize detail. (Corrected or uncorrected.) 75-100%
  • Repetitive Motion: Recurring movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 25-50%
  • Pushing/Pulling: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to provoke movement, or to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion. 50-75%
